Kyunggu Lee Jazz Big Band

NYKJO (New York Koean Jazz Orchestra) is comprised of Korean professional musicians in NYC and is the first Korean jazz big band in the U.S. NYKJO has played various genres of music to stimulate and promote public interest in big band jazz style, performing public jazz concerts. KyungGu Lee is currently working with NYKJO as an arranger, a music director and a producer as well as the first tenor player. In 2011, he dedicated himself to the first recording of NYKJO.

KyungGu Lee is the producer of a  New York Christian Contemporary Music Project. He started this project to express  thanks to God  for musical gifts from Him who is always with us. He is trying to know God more through this project and wants to grow in ways of God. He believes that all members from churches in NYC can lead many people who don’t know God. Meanwhile that could promote mutual exchange between Korean and American church.




Kyunggu Lee Jazz

Since he started to play jazz, all great players such as John Coltrane and Hank Mobley have inspired him in their styles of playing, and making unique sound in  post bop style  became one of his main musical goals. He has tried to make an ideal band for his ensemble, and has the 1st CD release ahead fall of 2012  in NY. He hopes to share his music with even more people in the future.
